1." "The closest person to me on the day of judgement will be the one who recites Durood upon me the most." [Jami Tirmidhi, Vol2, Pg 27, Dar Ul Fikr, Beirut]
Narrated Ka'b bin Ujra رضى الله تعالى عنه :
It was said, "O ﺂللَّــہ 's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم ! We know how to greet you, but how to invoke ﺂللَّــہ for you?" The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Say: Allahumma salli ala Muhammadin wa'ala Ali Muhammaddin, kama sallaita 'ala all Ibrahim, innaka Hamidun Majid."
[Sahih Bukhari: Volume 6, Book 60, Number 320]

Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, “He who reads a single Durood, Almighty Allah and His Angels (Malaa’ikah) send seventy blessings upon the reciter”. (Mishkaat)
7. " On the Day of Qiyamah, besides the Shadow of the Throne, there would be no other shadow. On that Day, Allah Almighty will especially Grant three kinds of people a place under his trone:
1. Whosoever removed some difficulty of my Ummah and solved his hardship
2. Whoever revived my Sunnah
3. And Whoever recited Doorud Sharif on me abundantly
--
In 'Zaadus Saeed' Hz Anas رضي الله عنه reports that Nabi صلّى اللّـه عليه و سلّم said "those who recite salaat (durood) on Me plentifully in number shall be in the shade of the Throne on the day of Qiyaamah"
How beautiful that Allah will grant those who continuously keep their tongues moist with the recitation of Durood to be in the shade of His Throne on that day when there will be no other shade besides His Throne, recite a short simple durood صلّى اللّـه عليه و سلّم
Nabi صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said the miser is he who when my name is mentioned he doesn't send durood on me.(Riyaadhus Saaliheen)
8."Allah Almighty has appointed a group of angels who travel the world, and in my Ummah, whoever sends salutatations to me, those salutations are presented to me by these angels." (IBNE HABBAN)

12. " Whosoever recites Durood Shareef a 1000 times on me daily, then before death he will see his abode in Jannah." ( SA'AYA)
13. " Send Durood Sharief on me, Allah will also send Durood on you."
Sayyiduna Abu Talha (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that he once entered the Court of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and noticed that the Habeeb of Almighty Allah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) was in a state of great joy and happiness. When he inquired as to the reason for this, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) replied that, “Why should I not be happy and joyous? At this very moment Sayyiduna Jibra’el Ameen (alaihis salaam) has brought me a message. Almighty Allah has declared, ‘O Muhammad! Are you not pleased with this, that if any of your followers sends a single Durood upon you, I and My Angels (Malaa’ikah) send ten blessings upon that person, ten of his sins are pardoned and ten good deeds are recorded in his favour. He who sends Salaams upon you, I send Salaams upon him, so therefore, notify your Ummah of this good news and tell them that it is now left to them to either increase or decrease the recital of the Durood Shareef’”.
(Nisaai)
14.'Umar ibn al-Khattab (ra) said that a supplication is suspended between the heavens and the earth . Nothing of it ascends till salutations are sent to your Prophet (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ )
and another naration on this topic:
It is reported that once Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) was sitting in the Masjid when a person entered to perform his Salaah. After the Salaah, the person made Du’a to Almighty Allah in the following manner, “O Allah! Please forgive me and have mercy on me”. On hearing this, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) stated, “O Reciter of the Salaah! You have been extremely hasty. When you complete the Salaah, you must first praise Almighty Allah according to His Magnificence and then read the Durood Shareef. Only then should you beg Almighty Allah for what you desire”.Soon after this another person entered the Masjid. When that person completed his Salaah he began to praise Almighty Allah and then recited the Durood Shareef. Seeing this, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said to the person, “O Reciter of the Salaah, ask, for certainly your Du’a will be answered”. (Tirmidhi)
[Tirmidhi]
15. Hazrat Ubai Ibn Ka'ab رضي الله عنه narrates: '' I said to رسول صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ that I recite durood sharif a lot to you. I wish you to fix an amount for me so that I can fulfill it.
رسول صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ Replied: '' Whatever your heart desires, read that much. '' I said: '' From my time I will fix a quarter of that time and the balance for other devotions,(Waza'if). رسول صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ replied:''Whatever you wish, but if u increase, then it will be better for you.'' I said: '' oh رسول صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ must I recite durood shareef the whole time?'' رسول صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ replied: '' If u do so then all your worries and difficulties will be suffieced and all your sins will be forgiven.''
(Tirmizi - Mustadrik)
It means that if the whole time is spent in reciting durood shareef, then اللَّهُ will suffice and garantee him all his needs. From the above Hadith, we clearly realise the excellence of reading the Durood Shareef as much as possible. O Almighty Allah! Grant us the strength to increase the recital of the Durood Shareef. Aameen.
and another naration on this topic:
It is reported that someone asked Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), “O Nabi of Allah, if one adopts the recital of the Durood Shareef daily, how then will it be?” Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu wasallam) replied, “If you do this, then enough for you is Allah in the affairs of this world and the next”. (In other words, the person will have no need to run to anybody and all his affairs will be completed with ease).
(Al Qolul Badi)
16. Mountains present salaam:
Hadrat Ali ﺭﺿﻲ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻨﻪ states :
While I was once accompanying the Holy Prophet
صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم
As he walked in Makkah, every tree and stone we had passed began to say assalamu alayka yaa Rasullalah to him, which I was also able to hear(peace b upon u,o Meassenger of Allah)
(tirmidhi sharif, vol 2 page 203)
Similiarly, Hadrat Jabir bin Samorah ﺭﺿﻲ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻨﻪ
Narrates that Rasoolullah
صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم
Said :
I still recognise the stone in Makkah that used to greet me.
(Tirmidhi Sharif vol 2 pg 203)
سُبْحَانَ اللّهِ . اللَّهُ أَكْبَر
A lifeless object recognised the beauty of NABI صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ,nd what about us??R we just payng lip service or r we really tryng 2 bring NABI صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ teachings in2 our lives.
Every time we implement a Sunnah of our beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ (peace b upon him)
we add more blessings to our life.
صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
17. Sayyiduna Abdur Rahmaan bin Samrah (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, “Tonight I have truly seen a strange sight. I saw one of my followers crossing the Pul-Siraat. At times he was walking, at times falling, and at times he was hanging on. Then I saw that the Durood which he had once read come to his assistance. It grabbed hold of the person, straightened him and led him safely across the Pul-Siraat”. (Al Qolul Badi)
and another naration on this topic:
Rasulullah صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ once came out of his house and said, "This night I have seen a strange vision. A man was crossing the Siraat (bridge over Jahannum). He had difficulty in crossing that sometimes he dragged himself along, sometimes crawling on his knees and sometimes been obstructed by something. Suddenly the salaat (durood) which he read on me reached him, and assisted him in standing up and crossing the bridge". (Qowlul Badee, Tabraani)
صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
The recitation of Durood will benefit us in this world, the grave, the day of judgement, over the bridge of the fire, on our scales of good deeds & in Jannah as well, so keep our tongues moist with constant recitation of durood إن شـآء اللّـه
18. THE REWARD FOR SENDING SALUTATIONS TO MUHAMMAD صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنه ) narrates that Rasullulah صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said : "He who says the following , he would tire 70 scribes [angels] for 1000 days." [The supplication is] :
جَزَي الّلَهُ عَنّاَ مُحَمَّدََصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَا هُوَ اَهْلُهُ
"May اللَّه سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى reward Muhammad صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ on our behalf with that which he deserves."
[Tabaraani]

The companions (رضي الله عنه ) said : "O Rasululah ! You got up very happy this morning. Happiness can be seen on your face ." He said: "Indeed . Someone from my Sustainer came to me and said : 'Whoever from your ummah sends salutations to you , اللَّه سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى shall record ten good deeds in his favour , wipe off ten evils from his record , raise his rank by ten , and reply to his salutaton with the like thereof."
[Musnad of Ahmad]
20. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (May اللَّه be pleased with him.) narrates that
" MY MOST BELOVED
النَّبِي مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
said
" That anyone who recites the following Salawaat(Durood) ; 80 times after Asar Salaah, before getting up from his place, اللَّه will forgive his sins of 80 years and reward him 80 years of good deeds.
The Durood is as follows:
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدِ نِ النَّبِيِّ الْاُمِّيِّ وَ عَلى آلِهِ وَ سَلِّمْ تَسْلِيْماً
"ALLAHUMMA SALLIE- ALAA- MUHAMMADA- NIN- NABIYY- YIL-UMMIYYIY-WA- ALAA-AALIHI- WASSALLIM- TASLEEMA."
"O اللَّه , bestow Your blessings upon the untutored(unlettered) Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم and upon his family;and bestow Your Mercy upon him and his family."

Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, “When you hear the Azaan being read, you should read as the Mu’azzin is reading. Thereafter, you should read the Durood Shareef. He who reads the Durood Shareef once, Almighty Allah bestows ten blessings upon him. You should then read a Du’a using me as a Wasila (Medium), for in Jannah there is a mansion named Wasila which was built for one person and I have hope that, that person will be me. He who pleads to Almighty Allah using me as his Wasila will be blessed with my intercession on the Day of Qiyamah”.
(Sadaatud Daarain)
مَنْ صَلَّى علَىَّ وَاحِدَةً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرًا
One who sends one durood upon me, اللَّهُ will bless him ten fold. (Muslim)
and another naration on this topic:
Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, “He who reads a single Durood upon me, Almighty Allah blesses him ten times. It is now up to the individual to increase the Durood or not”.
(Al Qolul Badi)
23.Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, “He who reads a single Durood, Almighty Allah blesses him ten times, pardons ten of his sins and Almighty Allah increases his status ten fold (internally). This is also equal to freeing ten slaves”.
(At TargheeB)
and another naration on this topic:
"Whoever recites Durood once; Allah Almighty will write ten good deeds for him, will forgive ten of his sins and will raise him ten times in status." [Al Qawl Ul Badi, Pg 107, Dar Ul Kutubul Ilmiyyah, Beirut]
and another naration on this topic:
HAZRAT ABU BAKR:
THE FIRST CALIPH OF HOLY PROPHET (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ) SAID THAT:
Reciting Durood Sharif on Holy prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ) is more effective for washing away sins than cold water is for extinguising fire
(Tirmidhi)
and another naration on this topic:
Ayesha رضي الله عنها reports that Nabi صلّى اللّـه عليه و سلّم said, "Whenever any of the servants of Allah recites salaat (durood) on Me, an Angel ascends with it to present it in Allah's court before the most merciful Allah.
Then our Sustainer, most Blessed & High says 'proceed with it from here to the grave of My Servant (Muhammed صلّى اللّـه عليه و سلّم) who shall beg forgiveness for the reciter thereof & in this salaat (durood) shall be the refreshment of His eyes',"
(Dailami)
Don't we all desire the forgiveness of Allah? & who better to make dua of forgiveness on our behalf then the best of creation & most Beloved to Allah, none other than Nabi صلّى اللّـه عليه و سلّم
Therefore with love & compassion send abundant durood upon Nabi صلّى اللّـه عليه و سلّم by reciting a short simple durood
صلّى اللّـه عليه و سلّم

STORY:
A person saw Abu Hafs Kaaghazi (rahimahullah) in a dream after his demise and enquired from him as to what had transpired? He replied: “Allah had mercy on me, forgave my sins and admitted me into paradise”. On asking him the reason for that, he answered: “When I appeared before Allah Ta’ala, the angels were commanded to count my durood as well as my sins. It turned out that my durood outnumbered my sins. Hence my Lord commanded: “O angels, let that be enough, let there be no further reckoning and take him into my Paradise”. (Al Qaulul-Badee' pg 259)
Lesson: Abundance of durood assures safety and salvation both in this world as well as the next.
26.Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, “If you forget about anything, you should read the Durood Shareef. By the grace of Almighty Allah, you will remember (what you have forgotten)”. (Sadaatud Daarain)
Commentary: It is mentioned that Sayyiduna Khwaja Qaazi Mohammed Sultaan-e-Aalam Meerpuri (radi Allahu anhu), in whose court great Scholars and Saints used to frequent, was in the habit of reading the Durood Shareef continuously. Whenever a question was put to him, he used to immediately point out the answer quoting the book and the page. Others used to find the answer after great search. But this Saint used to merely place his finger on the book and while reading the Durood Shareef used to open the exact page. This was through the Barakah of the Durood Shareef.

(Al Qolul Badi)

Supplicate to Almighty Allah through me, for status and intercession, for certainly, in the Court of Almighty Allah, my mediation is intercession (Shafa’at) for you.” (Jaami-us-Sagheer)
31.
It is narrated that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) once declared to a Sahabi, “O Abi Kaahil! That person who reads the Durood Shareef thrice every day and night out of love and reverence for me, verily, Almighty Allah considers it necessary to forgive the daily sins of that person”.

For him who reads with love and reverence, I will be his intercessor and Witness on the Day of Qiyamah".
(Al Qolul Badi)
33. "The one who recites Durood once, Allah Almighty commands one carat of compensation to be written down for him in his book of deeds and one carat is equivalent to Mount Uhud." [Imam Abdur Razzaq's, Musannaf Abdur Razzaq, Vol 1, Pg 51, Hadith 153]
34. The best of your days is Friday. Increase the Blessings you send on me on Fridays, for I will be told about your Prayers. Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets." [Abu Da'ud, Al Nisai, Ibn Majah]
-- ---
Sayyiduna Ali (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, "For that person who reads the Durood Shareef once, Almighty Allah records in his or her favour reward (Thawaab) equal to Qiraat". (Qiraat is equivalent in weight to Mount Uhud). (Al Qolul Badi)

A pious man once saw a horrible form of a person in a dream and asked him, "Who is this most ugly person?" He replied, "I am your evil deeds". The man asked, " And O, how can I be saved from you?" He replied, "By continous and numerous salaat (durood) on Hadhrat Mustapha Muhammad. صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ (Qowlul Badee)

Hazrat Aisha Siddiqa رضي الله عنها has related that Nabie صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ used to have a special pulpit in the masjid for Hazrat Hassan Bin Sabit رضي الله عنه to stand on it and recite couplets in the appreciations of Nabie صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
This was his famous lines:
Wa ahsanu minka lam tara qattu eynun,
Wa ajmalu minka lam talidi'n nisaau,
Khuliqta mubarraan min kulli`aybin,
Ka annaka qad khalaqta kamaa tashaau.
No eye has set upon anybody handsome & fairer as you
No woman has given birth to anyone as beautiful as you
You were created free from all flaws,
As if you were created as you wish to be.

DUROOD-E-SHAFI'I
ALLAHUMA SALLI ALA MUHAMMADIN KULLAMA ZAKARAHUZ ZAAKIRUNA WA KULLAMA GHAFALA UN
ZIKRIHIL GHAFILUN.
"O Allah! Shower blessings on Muhammad صلّى اللّـه عليه و سلّم
and his children whenever he is remembered by those who remember him, and shower blessings on Muhammad صلّى اللّـه عليه و سلّم
and family whenever he is not remembered by the negligent, and grant him peace constantly in abundance".
This Durood Shareef is called Durood-e-Shafi'i because Hazrat Imam Shafi'i (r.a) used to recite it constantly and he received glad tidings of Jannah in this world. This Durood Shareef is of a very great significance. It brings tremendous prosperity, health, happiness and success in this and the next world. Hazrat Allama Sakhavi (r.a) has written in his book that Abdullah bin Abdul Hakam saw Hazrat Imam
Shafi'i (r.a) in a dream after his death and inquired about life after death. Imam Shafi'i (r.a) told him that because of the continuous recitation of the above Durood Shareef, Allah Ta'ala gave him the most exalted position of the highest grade in Heaven and forgave him. Hazrat Imam Muzni (r.a) has
also narrated exactly the same story. This Durood Shareef is of a very great significance. It brings tremendous prosperity, health and happiness and success in this world and the Aakirah.

Do make an effort to recite it today between the Maghrib and Esha salaah to gain this benefit.
May Allah fulfil all our needs, may he accept all our duas, and remove our difficulties...

Durood Coming to One’s Assistance at the Time of
Need
Durood Coming to One’s Assistance at the Time of Need
Sheikh Shibli (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) once narrated the following: “One of my neighbours passed away. It was not long thereafter that I happened to see him in a dream and asked him, “How did the reckoning fare with you?”
He replied, “O Shibli, indeed I underwent a great ordeal. Even at the time of the interrogation by the angels Munkar and Nakeer, I experienced hardship and difficulty. I then thought to myself, “O Allah, why am I suffering such hardship? Did I not die on Islam?”
I then heard a voice from the unseen saying, “This difficulty is all due to the misuse of your tongue in this world.” When I was about to be punished, a handsome person in the most beautiful form came to my rescue and safeguarded me from the angels of punishment. The most beautiful fragrance emanated from him.
He dictated to me the answers of the angels and as he dictated I answered the questions. Thereupon I asked him, ‘May Allah Ta’ala shower His mercy upon you. Who are you?’ He replied, ‘I am that person who had been created from the great number of durood that you had recited upon Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).
I have been commanded to hasten to your assistance at the time you are in need.’”

Sayyiduna Abdur Rahmaan bin Auf (radi Allahu anhu) narrates: We, the Sahaba, used to spend day and night in the company of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). The reason being that we never separated from him was so that we could be of assistance to him in any matter. One day as Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) left his house, I followed him. He entered an orchard and he went into Salaah. He prolonged his Sajdah to such a degree that I began to cry with the thought that perhaps his soul had been taken away. When he completed his Sajdah, he came up to me and asked as to what the problem was. I replied, "O Nabi of Allah, I thought that maybe Almighty Allah had taken away your blessed soul and that I would never be able to see you again".Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) replied, "Verily, my Creator has rewarded me. Therefore, I prolonged the Sajdah. The reward which I speak about was that my Creator has promised me that whosoever amongst my Ummah reads a single Durood, ten of his sins are pardoned and he is rewarded with ten good deeds". (Saadaatud Daarain)

THE BENEFIT OF ABUNDANT DUROOD:
A young man who was making tawaaf of the Ka`bah was reciting Durood Shareef in abundance. Someone asked if he experienced any effect of the Durood Shareef. The young man narrated the following episode:
“My father and I went for Hajj. Along the journey my father became ill and died. His face became black; his eyes became horribly contorted and his stomach bloated. I cried and said: ‘Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji-oon.’ I bewailed my father’s death in the journey and his condition. That night when I fell asleep, I saw in a dream Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) approaching my father. He rubbed his blessed hand on my father’s face. Immediately it became whiter than milk and glittered. He then rubbed his hand on my father’s bloated stomach. His stomach subsided and became normal. When Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) was about to leave, I took hold of his blessed shawl and exclaimed: ‘O my chief! Who are you?’ He said: ‘Do you not recognize me? I am Muhammad, the Rasool of Allah. This, your father, was grossly disobedient and a sinner. However he recited Durood in abundance. I have therefore come to his aid when this calamity befell him.’
The Obligation of Supplicating Allah to Exalt His Mention and its Excellence, and its Manner:
`Abdullah bin `Amr bin Al-`As (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم
saying:"Whoever supplicates Allah to exalt my mention, Allah will exalt his mention ten times."
[Muslim]
Commentary:
Recitation of Salat upon the Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم
means the recitation of benediction.
Such as the one recited in Salat "O Allah, have mercy on Muhammad..." It is a prayer for mercy and exaltation of the Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم
which is highly meritorious.
(At-Tirmidhi, Hadith Hasan).

Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, "There are certain individuals who are the Awtaads (extremely pious) of the Divine Throne. They have their twin in the Angels. When they go away, the Angels go in search of them. When they fall sick the Angels visit them. When they visit the Masjid again the Angels welcome them. When they seek assistance the Angels are there to assist them. When they rest, they are guarded by Angels from the Heavens to the Earth. The Angels inscribe the Durood Shareef that the Awtaad is reading with pens of gold on Plates of silver. They bless the Awtaads with the words, 'Increase your Zikr and Durood Shareef. May Almighty Allah have Mercy upon you and may He increase His reward and Blessing upon you'. When the Awtaad reads the Zikr, a door is opened to him in the Heavens and his Du'a is accepted. Beautiful Maidens peer at him and the Mercy of Almighty Allah surrounds him till he remains in Zikr. When he departs from the place of Zikr, the Angels then seek other gatherings of Zikr". MIRACLE ATTRIBUTED TO READING THE DUROOD SHAREEF AND SALAAM
Once in India an Aalim had passed away and it was observed that for one month sweet fragrance used to arise from his bed and from his entire house. People enquired about this mystery. His son-in-law said that the Aalim used to recite Durood Shareef every Friday night in his house. The fragrance was as a result of the recitation of the Durood Shareef.

The incident goes that the neighbor of Imam Abu Bakr Shibli (ra) had died and Shibli (ra) had seen him in a dream and asked him, “How did Allah swt deal with you?” The man responded, “O Shibli, I was in a very bad situation. The angels asked me their question and my tongue was unable to answer. I wondered, did I not die as a Muslim, so why cant I answer? It was revealed to me that because I had a harsh tongue with people (in the world) so that is why my tongue has been stopped from giving answers today as a punishment. I was in this bad condition when suddenly a beautiful man with a beautiful fragrance appeared between the two angels and he was giving me the answers to the questions and I was able to answer. (After I answered) the man was leaving and I said, “May the mercy of Allah be upon you, who are you?” The man said, “I am the physical manifestation of the durood you used to recite in abundance, I have been commanded to come here and help you in your bad time.”
Sayyiduna Abu Darda ra narrates that the Prophet Muhammad salallaho alayhi wa sallam said, “On the day of judgement I will intercede for the one who recites durood upon me ten times in the morning and ten times in the evening.”

[Tabaraani]
19. Abu Talhah al-Ansari (رضي الله عنه ) narrates that one morning رسول صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ got up very happy. Happiness could be seen on his face.

24.Sayyiduna Aamir bin Rabi’ah (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that he heard Nabi Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) say in a sermon that, “As long as the slave of Almighty Allah is reading the Durood, the Angels (Malaa’ikah) bless him. It is now up to the individual to either increase or decrease the recital Durood Shareef”.
(Al Qolul Badi)
A person synchronizes with Allaah & His angels in that they also send Durood upon Nabi( صلى الله عليه و آله و صحبه و سلم )[Al Qawl al Badee]
25. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddique (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that he heard Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) say, “For that person who reads the Durood, I will be his intercessor on the Day of Qiyamah”.
(Al Qolul Badi)
27. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, “He who sends a single Durood upon me, Almighty Allah rewards him ten times and ten good deeds are recorded in his book of good deeds”. (Tirmidhi)
28.Sayyiduna Anas (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, “He who reads a single Durood upon me, Almighty Allah blesses him ten times, ten of his sins are forgiven and he is increased ten times in stages (spiritually)”.
(Mishkaat)
29. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) has commanded us, “Recite the Durood Shareef for verily Durood Shareef is a repayment for your sins. It also cleanses you internally. He who reads a single Durood Shareef, Almighty Allah blesses him ten times”.
(Al Qolul Badi)
30. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, “Increase your recital of the Durood, for the Durood is the best means of repayment for your sins.

Allamah Sakhaawi رضي الله عنه . says, "among the blessings granted by salaat alan Nabi (durood) is that it drives away poverty and want; and through it one can acquire other avenues of khayr (goodness).

Whoever reads 100 Durood (any durood) after the Maghrib salah on Thursday, ALLAH will fulfil 70 of his or her needs in this world and 30 in the aakhirah. (Narated by baihaqi)
Do make an effort to recite it today between the Maghrib and Esha salaah to gain this benefit.
May Allah fulfil all our needs, may he accept all our duas, and remove our difficulties...
